Shorter waiting times for vasectomy thanks to cooperation between Franciscus and De Herenkliniek

Men who opt for a vasectomy no longer have to wait months. Since September 2025, Franciscus and De Herenkliniek have been joining forces to drastically reduce waiting times.

Why this collaboration?

The demand for vasectomies has increased significantly in recent years. More and more men are consciously opting for this definitive form of contraception. At the same time, limited capacity at Francis created a waiting list.

“We saw that men sometimes had to wait a long time before their vasectomy,” explains Stijn van Meurs — co-founder of De Herenkliniek. “By working smartly with Francis' experienced urologists, we were able to reduce that waiting time to just two weeks.” The cooperation provides a nice strategic synergy as additional capacity is now also being released in Francis for other important interventions.

How does it work exactly?

The collaboration has been well designed: De Herenkliniek provides complete care, from initial consultation to aftercare. The medical procedure is performed by Francis' urologists. As a result, men experience the best of both worlds: De Herenkliniek's personal attention and fast service, combined with Franciscus' medical expertise.

The process takes place at Franciscus' familiar location on Willemsplein in Rotterdam. For most men, this means a smooth, fast process without long waiting times.

Who is this process suitable for?

This quick route is ideal for men with no risk factors. For example, men without specific medical contraindications such as the use of blood thinners or men who have had previous surgery in that scrotal region. Men who do have specific considerations are referred to Francis by their doctor for a vasectomy.

Referring remains easy

For GPs, little will change in the referral process. Through the well-known ZorgDomein system, they can choose between:

· 'Vasectomy Franciscus (complex) 'for patients with medical complexity

Quality comes first

The vasectomy remains a relatively small but important procedure. By reducing the waiting time, men no longer have to spend an unnecessarily long period of uncertainty about their choice for permanent contraception.
